I was contacted by Amy and Jamie in late 2016 about being their photographer on their wedding day. We spoke over the phone initially and as we went through the details of their wedding day, I became delighted by the prospect of a late summer Manchester wedding in the wonderful sounding Friezland church.

Friezland Church

Fast forward to this year I finally had a chance to check out the church where the couple would get married. Friezland Church is a beautiful old church built in 1850. Nestled in the green rolling hills of Saddleworth makes a gorgeous scenery for a stunning backdrop on a sunny day.

I spoke to the vicar briefly about the rules and regulations of photographing in the church and she was very welcoming letting me have the freedom to move around in the church during the wedding. I knew I was going to enjoy photographing here…

The Morning

When the day finally arrived I started bright and early at Amy’s parents house. The day was in full swing in typical wedding morning fashion and I got to work photographing the details. I loved Amy and her mum’s choice of shoes -Disney ‘Beauty and the beast’ converse trainers, I could tell this was going to be a stylish and quirky event.

The morning proceeded with the usual fast paced action with Amy as the beautiful bride looking stunning in her dress.

The Wedding

I arrived in good time to the church and started photographing the guests arriving whilst the building looked stunning in the afternoon light.  Amy arrived in a lovely vintage VW Campervan and I took the chance to photograph her and her bridesmaids on the steps of the church.

As the ceremony came along I took some great photos of the couple. I had planned to photograph the couple next to the canal after the service had finished but unfortunately, the heavens opened and it started to rain. Being a professional I have a backup plan for everything! so we decided to get some shots of the couple inside the church in front of the amazing stain glass windows.

Village Hotel Ashton

The reception took place in the Village Hotel Ashton, a stylishly modern venue near Ashton-under-Lyne town centre.

The evening started off with pre-drinks served and a evening meal. The speeches were to follow with a fantastically emotional speech from Jamie for his new wife. With love in the air the evening progressed smoothly with a intimate first dance by the couple before the guests joined in and got the party started.

What a wedding, congratulations Amy and Jamie!
